Michelle Goldberg’s faux-pology to Ann Romney

http://twitter.com/#!/michelleinbklyn/status/202188037898256384

After Michelle Goldberg compared Ann Romney’s praise for mothers to that of history’s worst totalitarian dictators and faced a huge Twitter backlash, she is back with a supposed apology. Of course, she isn’t apologizing to Ann Romney. No, she’s apologizing to liberals.

I’m truly sorry to have given the right a pretext for another tedious spasm of feigned outrage. I’m especially sorry if I’ve done anything to strengthen the conservative myth that liberals disdain motherhood.

Naturally, conservative tweeps didn’t like Goldberg’s fake apology nonsense.

Ya know what reminds ME of Hitler and Stalin? National Socialism and International Socialism. Crazy, huh? #tcot #p2 @michelleinbklyn

@thedailybeast The 'very qualified apology' from @michelleinbklyn is nothing but more Lib pandering. http://t.co/Jyn73ovI @AnnDRomney

In “Apology,” @MichelleInBklyn Stands by Romney-Nazi Comparison; But it ‘Wasnt Worth the Aggravation it Caused’ http://t.co/9AxHT13V

@michelleinbklyn You're not sorry for what you said, just that ppl are calling you out for it. Be honest & own what you said. #fakeapology

It really is sad that you would compare being a mother to someone who killed 6 million Jews, blacks & homosexuals #p2 #tcot @michelleinbklyn

@Newsweek writer @michelleinbklyn compare @AnnDRomney to Hitler & Stalin http://t.co/m0WVSB9f next week she will decry nasty campaigns

Of course, liberal tweeps had a very different take on Goldberg’s faux-pology. Apparently, comparing Ann Romney’s op-ed to Nazi propaganda makes her a progressive feminist hero of some sort. ‘Cuz wimmin rule!

@michelleinbklyn @UpWithChris Appreciate your article & for not apologizing to AR. Thank you for standing up for women again.
